Need Help From Someone Who Is Commuting, Baja To San Diego
|
Can't Post |
|
: I have Several questions to ask someone who is CURRENTLY commuting from Baja Norte to San Diego on a daily basis for work.
I did that commute for 3 years, but have stopped, as of June 23rd!
: 1.) Can you go back and forth everyday with a car registered and licensed : in California ? Sure, no problem, just make sure it is insured (although they never ask).
: 2.) What permits or fees are associated with this ? (if possible at all) No fees that I'm aware of, I never paid any!
: 3.) How long would it take to go from Rosarito Beach to Downtown San Diego : at about 6am ? Rosarito is about 20 mins. to the border, I usually got in line about 6am, and the wait would vary from 40 min. to an hour an a half. US traffic at that time is pretty non-existent. You would probably need to be in the border line about 5am, to be safe, but you never know! (maybe 20 min., maybe an hour)
: 4.) Returning at 6pm ? (Mon.-Thur on both #3 and #4)( I will apply for : Sentri Pass, but need times until I get it.) The return at that time can also get long, maybe 1/2 an hour or so to cross into MX., maybe not (the whole border thing here is very iffy. I crossed to US from TJ last night about 8pm and waited an hour. I thought it would be less time, mid-week and late, but you never know)
: 5.) My Business is in Classic Cars and Transportation, Will it be safe : driving from Rosarito Beach to San Diego and back in a Classic Car ? : (for instance 1964 Cadillac Conv.) The route you will take is almost like being on a US freeway, but who knows if you'll be safe or not!
: 6.) My wife would like to know if she can bring her house plants across : the border with us when we move ? I brought plants down with me, but I'm worried about bringing them back North! Who knows!
: Any help will be appreciated 78ford@jcn.net
Good luck, H.
