Cancun hotel

Can someone suggest a moderately priced hotel in Cancun? I arrive 9:30 at night by air and then am taking a bus the next day to Merida. What location would be most convenient to stay in?

El Rey del Caribe is close to the bus station and nice and economical. There are lots around that area.

Jim thank you for the information. That looks just like what I need. Unfortunately you can't reserve by using your charge card-you have to mail them money to hold the room-would never get there by next week. I wonder how busy Cancun is these days? Do you think reservations are essential? I'm getting in about 10 at night do you think I can just wonder around and find a room?

I stayed at Novotel Thursday night in Cancun. It's where we always stay. Clean, comfortable, and right behind the bus station. Rates are around 580 pesos / night. A/c and cable TV, too. The website is http://www.novotelcancun.com.

Lots of space a vailable at this time of year. Novotel is also very close and although I have never been inside, Dan the Man would never steer you wrong. The local Best Wetern is also just across the street from the bus station and there are others close.

Thanks Jim and Dan for the information. I think I'll take my chances then and just look for a place when I get there. Thinking about it-I only need the room for about 10 hours so I don't need anything fancy (pool etc.) so I should be able to get a room for less money.
