Alberta - isms

Since Pedro is currently in Chapala, I thought I would share some ALberta wisdom until he gets back on board. It is not fair that us Canadians hoard these gems for ourselves.

The Alberta legislature debated the idea whether the use of hand held cell phones while driving should be banned , of course it was voted down as an outrageous violation of 'man's right to drive'. One MLA stated 'people play basketball, hockey and sports and get injured all the time, are we going to ban those activities too?'

Tell that to the man who's daughter was killed by a driver talking on his cell phone and was distracted.

If only he had pulled over to the side of the road to make his call.

In short, Alberta is the most American like province of Canada. Which provice is the biggest opponent of firearms registration? Which province fought till the very end against Kyoto? Personally I think I tend to support them, but anyways this is Alberta. In Canada Ontario decides the federal government, so when the elected federal government full of Ontario MP's passes laws like the Firearms Act, that doesn't mean geographically it has much support across the country. Gun registration went into affect in Canada yesterday, January 1st. A guy name Jim Turnbull, of course from Alberta, organized a protest where he went to Ottawa yesterday and walked up to the parlament buildings with an unloaded/unregistered firearm in protest of registration. He's in jail now. But anyways, this is Alberta for you. How this is on topic I have no idea, but I didn't start the thread.
