We went to telcel yesterday....and we can get the stick with a plan, or prepay for the MB we need....I think I can also do it with my smart phone the way you said, Haven't had a chance yet to give it a try, but I do know my phone has where I can hook up to hot spots....There are cell towers right in the village, but she said it would be hard to get it on the outskirts of town. Luckily, the house we want, is RIGHT in town.....I will keep you further updated, since we have not been back out there to ck.with some business owners, and find out who the phone company is out there.

There's a SIM card in your Telmex modem? How did you remove it?

One side of the modem pops off and you slide the SIM out

I have the small white TelMex modem, looks like one side might pop off, but in your phone the SIM card holds your phone number. Likewise the TelMex modem SIM card? Same number?

No ... it's a different number. The papers for your contract should have it.. They will email your bill but I prefer to go to "mitelcel" website and download it.

I've had about 4 modems in 5+ years all different brands. Some pop open and some slide back. One type you have to execute a program and the newest is web based and automatically open a page

I new phone may use a smaller SIM than the modem

Sparks was talking about a Telcel modem, not a Telmex modem.
