Importing cars to Baja

Some time ago you could import "J" cars into Baja with a border license plate. I have heard this has changed. Does anybody know if this is true or have any experience importing cars into Baja Norte or Baja Sur?
Thanks!

You don't need to import a car to Baja because there is no TIP (temp import) required. Unless maybe you want to sell it

Might also depend on what Visa you have

I forgot to mention in my post I will be going for a "residente permanente visa" They used to let "J" cars into Baja for importation in the NAFTA free zone, but I think that has changed.

The laws are different for the fronteriza than they are for the rest of Mexico. You should check with a broker in San Ysidro/TJ. They will have all your answers.
