Need moving truck Mexico to USA

I am moving back to USA and cannot find a moving company that can cross the border so I can transfer my household goods to a US rental truck at the border. I live in Guanajuato state. Anyone have any recommendations?

Contact Strom-White Movers in Ajijic Jalisco. www.strommoving.com
They go both sides and have been in business for years.

Be careful with the girl in the Strom office. Be sure to get a receipt for every peso. She has a poor memory when it comes to money, even when it's thousands of pesos the day before.

I am on the road often and have started to see trucks from this company. They look like Ryder or U-Haul kind of trucks. It could be a new do it yourself moving company

If you contact them and get their rates, please share the info.

A good friend used Seymi to move here from Oregon, USA. All of his electronics (TV, Stereo, etc.) and cameras went missing. YMMV

This is really really common with commercial shippers/movers at both land and sea entry points.

Since the Mex. Gob. requires the moving companies to provide a detailed Menaje de Casa list of the contents of each numbered box ... the moving guys & Aduana guys ... use the Menaje de Casa list as the ~ treasure map ~ to quickly find the easily pawned goodies...

This is why old-timers keep advising to NEVER ship personal tools, electronics, jewelry, or valuables by professional moving companies for entering Mexico. Keep your important stuff with you when entering Mexico.

The same advice applies to putting valuables into airline checked baggage around the world ... TSA et al x-ray our bags and the govt. employees then relay the locations & contents of things worth stealing ... to their buddies 'on-the-line' - where they regularly open our bags & raid the goodies in discreet locations - like up inside the luggage bays of the planes.

Do-it-yourself avoids these problems.

See further details on this at: 1 What Can I Bring into Mexico: Mexican Customs Rules - The Article

Sorry for your losses ... and thanks for reminding readers about how to do things (better),

I do not know how big do you need your turck to be. Back in 2014 I got quotation for more $5000 to move my appartmentstuff from Guadalajara to Nuevo Laredo They said the price was high because they a big truck was needed.
We rented a minivan, moved all my books, clothing and small appliances and just paid to move the furniture, bringing the bill to $2600 + 700 for the minivan.

old thread, but if anyone needs a mover anywhere: call SEYMI in guadalajara. they are corporate movers & deal w/entire households. this includes art pianos antiques. i used them to move to mex from the US. i also was going to use them from state to state in MEX. very expensive but worth it. strom is fly by night i do not reccommend.

strom owners were out of town. they send a friend over to give an estimate & help out. the friend says "we dont give estimates for local moves" i had xx amount of cartons & the furniture speaks for itself. so......can you give me a round about figure? so do i need 4000 pesos? 10,000 pesos? he says "we tell you when we pick it up". ok, ill put it on a credit card. he says "we dont take credit cards" i say ok, ill put it on a debit card. he says "we dont take debit cards" i say why are you here? then i say "ill call the owner later, but can you book me for feb.xx, about 2pm"? he says "we cant give a specific time, most expats are never ready they answer the door in pajamas" i ask why he is here. he says" im helping out" then he gives me a cell number for the moving man. geee. why didnt he do this 20 mins earlier? oooo i forgot hes re-tiiiirred. #1

part 2: ok the strom friend leaves. i call the mex movers cell. he comes over & in 5 mins he gives an estimate, the amount of hours the move will take, & books me for feb.xx @ 2pm. i call strom in the US. they are angry that i had the movers cell number. they stand by the "friend" that they never give estimates for local moves or take debit/credit cards. what i should have done was re scedule the mexican guy pay him 1/2 & do it independently. if i didnt like the mexican i was going to call SEYMI. strom sounded like unprofessional hayseeds for old folks who wear PJs when they move. the only info their rep gave me was that they can either sell cartons or rent used ones to me. would you trust them for an international move??? #2

I am sorry you have had so much luck Bronco. I, on the contrary know many who have used them to ship from the north to Mexico.. They do not normally make short moves from neighborhood to neighborhood. In fact I thought they tried not to get into your type of move, you know, one neighborhood to another.

strom owners in US told me they do all kinds of moves including local. they sent some expat guy who owns a bar to look @ the job. if he didnt give me the mexican movers cell phone, i would not have used them. it looked like a scam. i was afraid they would send someone to pickup the furniture & play games about the price. sure appeared that way. the bottom line was they were in the US & they did not want thier employee to do the job "under the table". they were correct in that fear. (i found out later he does independent work). they should have sent someone who knew more about moving. he did tell me the cost per hour, cost of boxes. i try not to work w/expats who live here locally. whats up w/the "pajamas" & "they are on the kitchen making breakfast". sounds like a nursing home social club. if you want quality & clarity deal w/guadalara. much inappropiate bs yapper in these parts. regards.

Strom-White has an excellent reputation. They've been in business here for 12 years or more. They've moved hundreds of folks both south and north.

Sorry you had a sad experience but you have no knowledge or need to attempt to impune their reputation by inferance.

it doesnt matter where they are "from"does it? i believe they were in oregon or wash state. in any event they had a US or some vonage number listed on their site. maybe i did call canada, does it matter? so you are saying i never spoke to the real owners? ofcause. i choose not to depend upon the secretary in the local office. it was off season when i telephoned. i called the owner to complain AFTER the friend left AND i had the estimate from the mex mover. btw this was 5 & 1/2 yrs ago, i have no idea what is going on now. i would be curious what happend w/the original poster. you lost the argument as you have lost all of our internet arguments whether its about Utube, LCS, stereos & other useless information :)
