To my way of thinking, this is all about arrogance, a sense of entitlement and people without manners or consideration for others! A quote from another forum pretty much lays it out: "You don't like or care for dogs in or around a restaurant, then don't eat there. Very simple. Those of us who do not mind will continue to eat there." Now that I have probably irritated more than a few, here is the reality: I have a reputation for being able to get along with virtually any dog or cat and I enjoy the heck out of both! In my 68 years, no pet has been allowed anywhere near the dining room table while people are eating. However, when dinner was over our dogs were trained to expect a treat providing they followed certain protocols - sit, allow dog biscuit to be placed on their nose but they couldn't consume until told it was OK. Dogs were never allowed to pester guests and also taught to ignore other ill behaved dogs when out in public. In other words, the dogs were taught their boundaries and as responsible owners, we dedicated the time to have pets that received compliments about their behavior. Never once took a dog into a restaurant! Regards, Neil Albuquerque, NM
