Golf Cart Batteries & Solar Panel Needed near Manzanillo

Dear Fellow Gringos,

I am living in a trailer near Manzanillo and fairly close to PV. I need to obtain a 75 watt solar panel, control box, two batteries, preferable golf cart, in order to get some power to my little home. I am having little luck finding a place in Mexico which sells solar panels or golf cart batteries. I also am considering having the panel shipped form the US. Does anyone know the best way to ship safely and does anyone have a lead for the purchase of panels in Mexico near to where I live. I really appreciate any leads or help.

I suggest you check with your local Presidencia Municipal to see if they can connect you with the government program covering this. In Urique (state of Chihuahua) they will set up a complete system (pannel, large 12 volt battery, controller, and lights) at a very reasonable cost. When we did this several years ago, they did it for about 220 USD (1,720 pesos at the time). If there isn't such a program, or if you can't take advantage of it, there are mexican companies doing these instalations for about twice that price. I just did a search on the web for "placa solares Mexico" and got a bunch of hits, and I know in Chihuahua there are several companies in this business. I strongly suspect there are also some near where you live. You should be able to get a minimal system for about 5,000 pesos.

There's a place in the Marina in PV that sells panels and all the equipment.
Sorry can't remember the name. Also, The local agent for golf carts and their bits is Alex in Bucerias. 044 322 429 8322
