laredo to guadalajara via matehuala

We have not done this trip for two years. How are the cuotas from Matehuala to Guadalajara and are there any difficult connections that we should be aware of? Some were still under construction the last time we drove down. Thanks.

The cuota from San Luis Potosi to Lagos de Moreno is complete now. The "bypass" around Lagos is still the same rough road. You will see some repair areas along the way. There are more Pemex stations along the route.

Watch your speed on the San Luis Potosi bypass (south end mainly) and from there onto the first few miles of the 2-lane cuota towards Lagos. If it says 40kpm, you best drive 40.

Well, the San Luis Potosi bypass is cuota 57D; one then gets off that bypass/cuota for maybe a mile (going south) and then heads west/right on the 2-lane cuota 80D heading eventually to Lagos de Moreno.

One should drive according to the posted speed limits throughout that area... until at least 10 miles down 80D. That stretch is WELL known for speeding tickets.... there is a large Policia/Federal compound in S.L. Potosi I understand.

There is a large Federal Pólice compound on MX57 just north of the Mx 57 and Mx 57D exit/entrance across from the Zar Hotel and a large Federal Pólice University in SLP where hundreds of cadets train. It is one of the three in Mexico. There is also a large Federal Pólice compound on the Mx 80 cuota in Lagos de Moreno as you enter from the east.
