New car purchase in the US-need TIP

Can't Post | Private Reply
Any idea how to purchase a US car and get title for TIP in 4 days?
Seems the state where it will be registered wants to mail the title.
Is there any way to expedite and pick it up?
Gracias!

Come on Isabel - even living in Mexico a number of years, you should remember that each and every State is different in their policies? How can you even expect an answer when you fail to provide complete information? However, I would expect you are barking up the wrong tree by attempting to change proceedures wherever you are attempting to do this?

It's my daughter's dilemma-just trying to help. My car is nationalized so I really have no experience with this. Car is in CA now, coming in at Nogales. They are trying to buy it today.

More info certainly does help. While I don't remember all the details, it seems that some former or present CA residents posted an acceptable "work around" in the past? But sorry, I don't remember all the details. While a search might produce some results, I can't even give you a clue as to how to define. An additional issue may come up if the vehicle is financed? I have seen evidence where newly financed vehicles couldn't get the necessary letter from finance companies becuase loans weren't "mature". Have also seen posts where people admitted to running from finance obligations by taking vehicles into Mexico!

I bought a 2015 car last November 6th. and I crossed at Nogales 5 days later,I emailed Banercito and the same day they emailed me that all I needed was the bill of sale and my passport what I did need was the bill of sale from the dealer, the temporary registration from the windshield and insurance. everything went smoothly without any delays, heck I did not even have license plates at the time......suerte

P.S. Here is what they wrote with their email address:

Good afternoon,

Kindly apply for your temporary import permit using your US or Canadian Passport and the Bill of Sale for your vehicle we will accept registration as well.

Best regards.

chichois8's experience fits our experience, pointing to the value of first-hand information.

Just as Mexican gob. offices (Matamoros Aduana) and policía use our Mexican auto dealer-issued facturas as proof of ownership, we've found they also accept US original dealer invoices.

Hopefully your daughter will have similar experiences on her CA-Mexico crossing,
steve

You can get a TIP at the following consulates in CA, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Sacramento.

I have used San Bernardino many times. It is quick and easy. They can issue your FMM there too.
