We really need 1355 desks (employees?) in Mexico City? I hope that there are better facilities for visa applicants planned than the current cattle car set up.

The U.S: purchased the site on Presa de la Angostura, Colonia Irrigación (off Polanco) about 2010. I do not know what environmental clean up has been required, though I have always suspected the toxicity of Colgate Palmolive toothpaste. (Kidding, folks).

While talking of waste, let us consider the $155 million price tag I read recently that is attached to plans for a new U.S. consulate in Matamoras. Yeah, $155 million for that location! High cost in large part was attributed to the special security requirements of that crime ridden drug center. Which got me to thinking. Why not just build offices on the U.S. side of the border and have a special bridge or corridor for Mexican to walk over to relative safety at a U.S. based consulate?

$US 155 million.

He's talking about the cost reported (so far) for the new embassy in Mexico City. 763 million US and counting.
