To leave a message on a recorder (I hate doing that in any language and usually hang up): What I say is "Habla Jim".

Message on the recorder (irnoic that as much as I hate the darn things, I have one for those who don´t):

1.- Mine is bilingual as I receive messages/call from people who speak both languages.

2.- Determine in which language you receive most of the calls and do a short, quick blurb in the second place language.

"A message in English follows. Por el momento no me encuentro en casa. Favor de dejar su nombre, número de teléfono y mensaje después del tono. Hi. I am not at home right now. Please leave your name, number and message after the tone."

Of course you can be more creative than that but be careful with humor--it doesn´t always translate.

Here is an example that fits both business calls and friendly ones:

"Hola ! no puedo contestar por el momento, si quiere dejar un mensaje, regresare la llamada lo mas breve sea posible, gracias."
