Bringing back family remains to Mexico

My brother passed away two months ago and I had his remains cremated per his wishes. Now I am the only living person in our family and I wish to bring back the two urns (My Mother and my brothers) of their remains and place them in our memory garden at our home in Querétaro. Do I need any special papers to do this? What about any furnishings' that were willed to me as well? Can anyone give me any information about these things? Will I also need to pay duty on the pieces of furniture and other personal items that were willed to me? Nothing of great monetary value more sentimental and family pieces. Thanks for any help.

Will you haul the furniture in your trailer, or will you pay a professional shipper and Customs Broker?

We and all our friends (Residente Temporales y Residente Permanentes) have brought in furniture and household goods using our personal trailers with no problems since 2010, as long as it is obviously not for business or commercial use. One key seems to be creating an ersatz Menaje de Casa-style list of every item in the load, in Spanish, with estimated prices. Aduana and state border officials seem happy to get copies of the list to put in their files.

SRE used to have a webpage that described requirements for having the death and cremation certificate translated into Spanish and apostillated - and that documentation accompanies the ashes.

(My old weblink for that SRE page now does not work anymore: http://portal.sre.gob.mx/was_eng/index.php?option=displaypage&Itemid=65&op=page&SubMenu= )

The Mexican Embassy in Ottawa has the relevant information in Spanish at
http://embamex.sre.gob.mx/...on-de-restos-humanos. They also have a link to what Canadians should do instead of the apostille required of countries such as the USA. I do not see the info in English.

The US State Dept has info, also in Spanish, for the other directions, folks wanting to ship human ashes into the USA. See http://spanish.mexico.usembassy.gov/...-estadounidense.html On a rapid search, I do not find such info from USDoS in English, though no doubt it exists.
