I'm link challenged but you can google (chespirito) for more information about him.
He was one of the most famous and beloved television characters in Mexico and Latin America,kids,mine included, absolutely love his shows.

Oh, wow. I hadn't heard. Thanks. Adults here love him too. Friends refer so often. An icon. A cultural reference point for sure. NPR in the US even did a brief piece.
