We will be driving down with our 2 dogs and are wondering if there is a hotel that takes dogs in San Luis Potosi?
Last year we found Matahuala to soon for us to stop and Lagos was too far. Thanks for any info.

Almost all motels will allow dogs. If you are not familiar with Mexican motels, read this:

If for whatever reason you do no stay in a love motel take cages with you and that will help you with a regular hotel. The maids complain that people sleep with their dogs but if you tell the hotel you have cages and your dog sleep in cages it is usually ok.

We have stayed with our dog at the Zar and also at Hotel Maria Delores. The Westin will also allow dogs, but it is a bit upscale.

I ran across this suggestion from DONEMERY on the Maria Dolores but we stayed at the Grand Motel with our dog. We initiated a deal to stay for two 6 hour periods but at the end of the first 6 hours they started calling us to see when we would vacate. They finally got the message we had paid for two 6 hour periods. A little unnerving at midnite or 1am with the phone ringing.
We would like to try the Maria Dolores but aren't familiar with the parking facility, as we have a roof carrier on the vehicle and do not want it exposed. Is the parking secure? Thank you in advance for any or all answers.

Thanks to everyone for their replies, we sure appreciate it. Looks like the Hotel Maria Delores or the Zar would be our pick. I would have no problem with staying in the motels either. For the person who stayed in the Maria Delores and the Zar, are these easy to access from the highway?

Don't know the Delores, but there is a ZAR on the south side.... just as you exit the bypass east of SLP and reconnect with 57, go north into town on 57 instead of continuing south. It will be on the right pretty close to where you turn back. Easy-peazy.

The Hotel Maria Delores has controlled access to the hotel grounds and the parking is at the door of your room for most of the rooms. It is near the intersection of 57, 80 and 70 as are the bulk of the chain hotels. We have been taking 57 into the city rather than going around on the eastern by pass and coming back up on 57. Then we take 80 out from the big interchange, rather than going back down 57 to take 80 along the southern bypass.
