It's kind of ironic,there are probably hundreds of millions of people around the world who would jump at the chance to pay $2350 to obtain US citizenship.

U.S.'s final chance to tax you before you leave. It could be twice the above amount and people would still pay. Of course, this helps lower the national debt.

Not mentioned in the article is how the IRS will also chime in, and tax you, claiming any assets you have purchased as a US citizen will be deemed to have been sold on the day you cease being a citizen. The forced "sale" of assets will tax you on the capital gains "earned" as measured by the increase in dollar value between the time you purchased these investments (including real estate, artwork, coins, etc) and the date you renounce. The only silver lining here--this should be your last dealings with the US taxman.

But remember --- It is PLUS 10 Years from the Date of Renouncing your U.S.

Citizenship in regards to all Your Taxable Financial Assets!

A sad State of affairs - unfortunately true!
