car registration coming over border

We're buying a mini van to move back to Mexico, one of us will have a temporary
residence visa, one will have a visitor visa, should i register the van in one name
(temporary visa name) or both. and can we both drive the car if i do. hope that makes
since. thanks for help

Assuming that by "We're" you mean members of the same family (spouses maybe?), either of you may drive the car even is only one name is on the vehicle importation document (TIP).

If you register it in the visitor's name only, Visitor Card, that person AND the van would have to return to the border within 180 days. If this is your plan, so be it. But if you get the TIP in the Temporary Resident's name (Residente Temporal), then the van can stay in Mexico as long as that person remains Temporal.... and the other spouse/family member who is here on a Visitor Card can drive it too (but of course, that Visitor Card person must exit Mexico within 180 days).
