Guia Roji Road Atlas

Hello: I'm trying to locate a source to purchase the latest GUIA ROJI POR LAS CARRETERAS DE MEXICO. Amazon no longer has them in stock. I found a 2007 on Ebay available for $25 but wonder if it may be to dated as far as new toll roads. Also, what denomination of mexican bills and coins should a traveler have on hand to pay the toll fees so as to not deal with receiving change. Any comments would be appreciated. Thank you, Jeff

Your question about tolls is impossible to answer. Tolls vary depending on where you are traveling. Toll booths in Mexico are actually the best place to change large bills--they ALWAYS have change.

On the toll fees...can you tell me the least and most you remember paying in your travels please?

We almost always paid tolls with a $500 bill and enjoyed having the smaller change for food, hotels, etc.
You can estimate your tolls on Rutas punto a punto.com.mx and there is an English option if you need it.

As an example of toll costs, from Lukeville/Sonoyta via MX 2 and MX 15 to La Peñita de Jaltemba Nayarit with a single rear wheel 3500 Ram pulling a two axle trailer, the tolls run us about $189.00 US. We also like to break our 500 peso notes at the toll booths.

We just purchased a 2014 Guiana at Oxxo...you have to ask them for it as it is usually under the counter.!?!

How much did it cost?

Sanborns has them but didn´t buy one because the price was higher than I expected.

I suspect it was at a large OXXO?

We are leaving on Monday or Tues. for a road trip.

We bought it at regular size Oxxo ....not a real big one....

Cost was $210 Mx as printed on the book.

Glad you were able to get one. We used to be able to get really big one that had a section by state and a lot of information about cities in each one....history, things to do, etc. Of course it was a lot more money but really great for planning trips.

Rocky's correct almost all OXXO's have them in the magazine rack for 210 pesos or $16 USD.....In my opinion it has gone downhill for 2014, does not have half the info as my 2012......

chicois8.... I have to agree with you, the 2014 edition of the Guia Roji was quite a disappointment for me as well. It no longer has the spiral binding which was convenient when driving and they have removed all of the city maps.

I guess I will have to have my older one with me as well when exploring Mexico.

Thanks for the info. I will go to the Gandhi book store and get a 2012 one for $250.00 pesos, as I want the city maps.

The 2014 edition has a page with square bar codes that apparently can be scanned by some smart phones or tablets that apparently will show the city maps on your device. Way beyond my level of technology.
