Why is there no "North Central Region" in the Areas forum?

Unless I'm missing something, all of México is covered except the north-central part of the state. Aguascalientes, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas. 35% of the total area, 15% of the total population.

But a small number of expats living in that area -- me and maybe a dozen others.

Seriously? I just ran in to an expat randomly at the grocery store in Saltillo not two months ago.

Rolly:

I think you would find many more expats and certainly numerous foreign business people in the area?

Business people, Yes. Likely viewers of MXC, No
So far as I can recall there are only three of us in the area that are active on this board.

How many members might appreciate a forum for North Central where ideas and information could be exchanged for those traveling through the area?

That's what I was thinking. I'm new to the site, but I figured the boards existed, at least in part, to serve people like me, who aren't actually expats but who have an active interest in Mexico and seek and/or offer information. I don't live in northern Mexico, but I'm there once a year and have long-term plans to end up there full-time. My recent posts have been specifically about the Laredo area and Coahuila - posts which I've felt would be more appropriately posted in a region-specific area of the forum. Furthermore, it seems that quite a lot of the traveling questions are specifically about travel through northern Mexico.

But I'm very new here, so I'm sure I'm not the best at gauging things on the site. I just find myself wanting to post a location-specific question every so often, but not having a board to post it on.

Well here is an opportunity - start a North Central forum for those in need. Building a forum and dealing with members can be such an enlightening experience!

Well, I don't suppose I have the access to start a whole category. And new members don't generally go around changing how forums operate. That's why I posed the question in the Help section: to let those who have the ability and the tenure make that kind of decision.

Sorry I wasn't clear in my suggestion - there are many websites where one can start a forum without cost. I wasn't suggesting that you had the ability to insert a new section on here. However, anyone who pegs the number of traffic lights between points A & B obviously has the attention span required to create a new forum!

Not at all my suggestion. Guess I am a failure at communicating the fact that I was just kidding!

Good, good. Good to know. Communication on forums often gets misconstrued, I've noticed, and now I find myself having fallen victim to it. I also know that some forums are welcoming while others are more hostile environments, so I was worried this one was the latter. Glad to know that's not the case. No worries, brother.

I am an expat.I have been following this site daily for many years. Carol´s site too before she moved. I live in San Luis Potosi. There are many expats here. I have sent private replies to many posters but choose not to get in battles with most people.

Wondered the same thing when I joined this forum. Pointed it out to my Monterrey-native girlfriend, she just repeated her truism that nobody wants to come to Monterrey. haha
