US/Mexico Border problems with Central American children

  | Private Reply
Without getting into politics I am wondering what the Mexican Gov. and Media are saying about this problem? We are in Canada right now and it is hard to find any news other than what is reported on US TV.

If the original poster is asking about MEXICAN reaction, checking out Jornada (www.jornada.unam.mx) or eluniversal (eluniversal.com.mx) would be a good start. Both the left and the right recognize the so-called crisis as the result of U.S. policy in the region. There is a fair amount of sympathy within Mexico, with good press given even by the anti-clerical media to the Catholic Church, which has been setting up guest houses and shelters for those passing through. The Mexican senate has been considering creating "humanitarian visitor visas" for those transiting through, to give them some minimal legal protections while in the country. Not reported in the U.S. media is the fact that a quarter of those coming from Guatemala, Honduras and Salvador are seeking asylum in Mexico itself. The others are either people with some family in the U.S., or under the impression that the U.S. will allow them to stay... at least untill the situation in their home countries improves.

boston.com lied about the number of people, it was close 10,000 not in the 100s. i have photos. (did my best to promote the event by tweeting the annoucement). the boston herard deleted the few minutes of jeff kuhners speech. he welcomed all legal immigrants all ages races. his family is from the ukraine, they immigrated to canada. they made it sound as if he was against "immigration" which is not the case.

the protesters in boston were hardly hillbillys. so many democratic politicans were there from statehouse in beacon hill. democratic goveners of both maryland & conn said no to the illegals. there are hollywoodmovie stars who are also going against the progressive narrative. they dont care of they work or not. hardly hillbillies.

few have family in the US. the head of the refugee office in tenessee (holly baker) made a statement about that in the regional newpaper. gov haslem wrote a letter to obama as they were not notified of the arrivals. so irrespossible of the US & central amer govts to encourage these people thru this kind of trip. especially the pregnant women & mothers.

I was looking for the Mexican outlook in this matter. I was listening on the radio about little girls being given birth control pills as they will be raped on the train! Why does Mexico allow the kids to cross the border? Mexico is partially responsible for this border crisis.

youre information is correct. there are stats on the rapes, the % of girls/boys even little ones. the govts of honduras, el salvador had annoucments on national news about ammesty. these countries as well as mexico/US know about the cartels, smugglers, gang members, abuse. they are all responsible for orchestrating this. its been happening since last october. really exploded in june. mexico has given 72 hr permits for the central americans to travel though.

Many Mexicans see this as an opportunity to go NOB. I know quite a few Mexican Families in Michoacan that have used this crisis to sneak their wives and children into the USA. As CBP escorts the Central American people one way, Mexicans are going the other way. One friend was able to hug his wife and daughter for the first time in 3 years.

Bennie2, How many Mexican immigrants do you know personally in the USA? You need to talk to real people instead of parroting what you read online. I have been talking to quite a few friends lately?

Mexicans sneaking into the USA is at a high level compared to the last 4 years. Personally, I would help some of my friends and their families from Michoacan get to the USA, or at least to Tijuana and get them out of the hell hole they are living in now.

Hola Playaboy, that's funny cuz where I am on the Pacific coast north of Puerto Vallarta I know of 6 families that moved back to Mexico siting
unemployment and discrimination in the states...Most had been north between 18 and 20 years and are all US / Mexico citizens that have children and enough funds to open small businesses, their command of the English language is perfect for the Canadian and Gringo snowbirds that migrate each year...........

Listening on the radio... to whom? A reliable source?

As to why Mexican allow minors to cross the border, it's because they're a signatory to the U.N. Conventions on the rights of refugees. And the problem is one of the U.S.'s making, not Mexico's. Mexico is not the country that backed a neo-fascist coup in Honduras, and backs the people killing journalists, trade unionists, and human rights workers. Mexico is not the country that is importing weapons and buying narcotics. Mexico is not where the California prison gang, MS-13 comes from. Mexico is not the country encourging palm oil monoculture and stealing land from the peasants...
