Last year we did 3 round trip Reynosa-Cd.Victoria-Guadalajara trips using ETN buses. We heard of problems on the Cd.Victoria-SLP road. Am asking for alternate route or have things calmed down?

In the past, we have used Interjet between GDL and Monterrey, then the three hour Grupo Senda bus to McAllen, via Reynosa.
Total travel time is 7-8 hours, all in the daytime. The buses run every hour and are seldom full. Seniors get the usual discounts.

How do you make the bus station to airport connection? If taxi, what is the fare? Do you get your plane tickets on the internet? Does Senda leave out of Reynosa or McAllen? Do you think I could make it to Morelia the same way? Thank you for the information.

Senda, and other lines, are available at the McAllen downtown bus station, or at the Guadalajara/Tonala station. We just went to the station, bought the tickets at the old folks rate and were on the bus in less than an hour.
We did pretty much the same thing at the airport, but if you plan your schedule, you could buy tickets ahead of time in whatever manner is most convenient for you.
We traveled from McAllen toward Monterrey and, as soon as we saw the Airport sign, got off at the next suburban bus stop approaching Monterrey. There were taxis there and, back then, the fare to the airport was $150 pesos. We had just enough time for a sandwich and caught the one hour flight to GDL and a taxi to Chapala.
Departed McAllen at 8:30AM and arrived home in Chapala about 3:00PM.
You could check the airline schedules in either direction, and plan accordingly. It was a very easy trip. Just be sure to tell the bus driver that you need to visit INM when they pause at Reynosa.
