Several years ago I stayed there and liked it very much. The room was relatively basic, but was all I needed. Good location.

Thank you! When reading various reviews I was concerned by comments about the church bells and wondered about the comfort of the beds? We tend to spend very little time at any hotel or in our rooms, so fancy amenities are lost on us.

Sorry, the trip was too long ago and I'm not a good judge on those issues anyway. Church bells don't bother me, and I could sleep on a brick.

No problem. After all we are only staying two nights. Just trying to avoid a repeat of staying right on the Zocalo in Puebla with the bells, the noise of the weekend crowds and beds made of marmol.

You might want to stay at the Burro Azul which is very central & quiet & very Mexican. I stayed there one night last winter when I arrived in the city on a late flight & was not able to get into my nearby rental until the next morning.

Thank you! It appears to be a step up in quality but I will have to invest in a phone to discuss parking since they show no parking available. It also appears to be a little less centro which may reduce the noise level?

Oh dear, there is only street parking & that is very limited. That street is very narrow. Not sure I would want to park my vehicle on that street overnight. There are nearby streets that are wider? Email or call them to see what they suggest for guests? It is very quiet there.

Did some more digging around on their website in Spanish and found that they have an arrangement for parking in a secure lot for $80MXN for 24 hours. Certainly an acceptable rate! They apparently have 2 rooms left with one king bed for our time period. Do you remember if the beds seemed comfortable?

That's great! Nice to know if anyone else asks. They are often full so it is a popular place incl with Mexicans. My bed was very comfortable.

Want to thank everyone for their comments and recommendations. After examining each and every suggested hotel, I have decided to stick with our original choice. Despite apprehensions about the mentioned noise, we are still intrigued by the history and location of this hotel. As they say: "you don't know until you have tried it".
