A word on IMSS

Many foreigners complain about the IMSS medical service.
The IMSS is a subsidized medical service (as well as other services) for POOR working Mexicans. Middle class Mexicans don't use the IMSS, even though they are paying for it by way of deductions in their paychecks. Only the cheap ones.
Yes the service is bad, yes the facilities are overcrowded always, yes they don't have every medicine on stock, yes many poor Mexicans are entitled to IMSS and are unable to get even that lousy medical service, and yes those who get the services have to wait for hours before they are served. These are a few among many other negative things that can be said about IMSS and other Government subsidized services.
It is hard for me to understand how people from a first world country would put themselves trough such an undesirable experience.
Do yourself a favor, don't use the IMSS, leave it for poor Mexicans who can't afford anything else.
