Easter Week Destinations?

Can't Post | Private Reply
We live in Puerto Vallarta and would like suggestions for where to go during Easter week to avoid the crowds and see something really worth seeing. We're willing to drive as far as 5-6 hours. Any ideas?

Hello laurakay,
It's a little further away, but not much and a visit to the city of Querétaro in the state of Querétaro is really a great trip, Lots to see and do in a very vibrant city. I would consider making any hotel reservations in San Juan del Rio just 20 minutes South of C.D. Querétaro and a lot less expensive, saving about $1000 pesos per night, is not unusual by staying in San Juan del Rio, compared to C.D. Querétaro and at a really great hotel to boot, just 2 minutes off the Autopista direct into Querétaro. No matter where you are thinking of going I would certainly make your reservations as soon as possible as even at this time it maybe too late.
Check here http://en.wikipedia.org/...taro,_Quer%C3%A9taro under Notable Sites and also check the Climate Section . . . . . . . . . . . . . . this is a really good Festival. . . . . . . . "The Festival of Santiago de Querétaro" Which you can also read about here http://en.wikipedia.org/...taro,_Quer%C3%A9taro and here http://www.sic.gob.mx/...ival&table_id=18
and a lot more information here http://search.aol.com/...go+de+Quer%C3%A9taro

Sounds like it may be crowded there as well, based on the need for fast hotel reservations.

Hi Sioux4noff,

I did read that part of the OP's posting that said . . . . . . ."to avoid the crowds". Is there really any place in Mexico that doesn't have a "crowd during Easter Week?
C.D. Querétaro, being a larger Mexican City, at least the "crowds" are well spread out. There really is so much to see and do there, for all variety of personal tastes and interests, (except beaches). (smiling)

Robert, I'm curious: what does the 'C.D.' you use before Querétaro mean?

My guess is ciudad. Used so not to confuse with the state.

Esperanza,
Barry is correct. I have seen it written out ciudad, Ciudad, C.D., Cd, CD so I just chose one. Yes it is supposed to distinguish the City from the state of the same name so as not to confuse the reader.

Thanks, Robert. I've only ever seen Cd., so wondered if your way meant something different.
