WANT TO PURCHASE 5-20 HECTARES OF UNDEVELOPED LAND IN THE YUCATAN

Hola,

We would like to purchase 5-20 hectares of raw, undeveloped forest land in the Yucatan Peninsula to establish a new "off-the-grid" Eco-community. We have been living for the past seven years in Veracruz.

No utilities needed - prefer a non-tourist area but with small villages nearby, one perhaps as close to 3-4 km., proximity to the beach not important - would love to have a cenote on the property.

Thanks,

P.S. - we have tried to buy similar property here in Veracruz but all the properties we liked were Eijido without any legal documentation. We are hoping larger pieces of land in the Yucatan can be purchased with a proper Deed of Trust (escritura).

I would strongly suggest spending a consultation fee with a reputable notario in the area for guidance in this process. I remember there being a limit at one time, to the amount of hectares that could be held in a trust. You may have to/want to form a corporation. Check it out before committing to anything!

AS long as they are not in the restricted zone they don't need a trust just an escatura.....

There are plenty of haciendas in ruins with land for sale in the YUcatan, go to some real estate sites and look for land....

They were speaking particularly about a trust for the property, thus my comment. It still makes sense to consult a notario for any property dealings!

Keep in mind that if you purchase a piece of property within 50 km of the coast or 100 km of any border you will need to acquire a fideicomiso. That means lots of extra legal fees and yearly bank fees FOREVER :(

There is plenty of raw land for sale in the Yucatan. There are real estate signs all over the place. You need to look online at the real estate company sites and get in a car and drive around.

Have you heard of Pueblo Sacbe? Is this what you are trying to build? http://pueblosacbe.com/
