legally offloading a US plated car in Mexico

I want to offload/donate/have siezed my car as i need to leave Mexico for Los Angeles by early november, and am being denied a temporary import permit because im lacking an original car title (original was stolen in July). Im currently stranded in Tapachula.

I could wait for a new title to get processed and sent down but that could take another four weeks, and I need to be in Los Angeles by November 14th to make my flight home to NZ.

Has anyone had to give up their vehicle before and know the correct procedure?

To get a TIP you do not need an original pink slip/title only an original registration card...

I was under the impression you could go to aduana and get a letter of permission to remove a vehicle in 5 days...

Well the problem is that in California, the registration and pink slip are all on one page, so i have no original paperwork linking me to the truck.

Ive also tried at the Aduana for that returno seguros, but same problem with the paperwork, so thats why I want to find a solution for offloading it because I dont have time to wait down here for new ownership papers to get processed and sent down.

Go to the border and cancel the existing TIP.

I am from CA. The registration and "pink" title are different documents. You can get a duplicate registration at any DMV office immediately. Then FedX it down. That can get you a retorno seguro or a TIP.

Have you thought about selling it SOB?

No worries guys, managed to get in after four days of trying. Who would have thought all it would take is a couple phone calls made by the right person, to the right people.
