If you ever doubted the lake is shallow

We all know it's shallow and getting more so, we're down 10' from the high in 2008. Today I was over at the Beer Garden in Chapala and as I looked out a saw something odd - a small self powered backhoe has apparently "walked" out about 100 yards S of the end of the pier and lighthouse and is standing in maybe 2' deep water, or probably less, and is digging a deep water passage for the boat fleet. I'm going back tonite and taking my camera, you don't see this every day.

I saw this today around noon, and wasn't sure I was/was not seeing things.

Thats a great idea to put a dike/road across the lake, so to keep the fishers and boaters happy at one end. and grow food and graze cattle at the other end.........keep every one happy.Eh

Actually what will happen is that when the lake comes back up, and it will eventually, that bar will still be there and unseen to someone on a jet ski etc. that will hit it and kill themselves or rip off a lower unit at the very least. Or, maybe they could build another island and move Jesus out there?

Up home on Lake Travis when it drops we get "sometimes islands" and all sorts of things appear in the middle of the night, I have pics of a couch and an easel with a velvet Elvis, another time a baby grand appeared.

That isn't a backhoe, my friend the engineer. That is an excavator.

Well......."excavator" or backhoe........lol.

I have heard that major supplies to the island population are brought by boats; at least unless the lake falls to the level it once was and they can drive a truck across. Izzat so?
