TONY'S Restaurant Review in Ajijic

Last night six of us from our Bi Monthly Dinner group ate at TONY'S restaurant. First they put 3 kinds of salsas on the table with nice crispy, not greasy tortilla chips. We ordered drinks. Most people ordered those Margaritas in huge glasses. Then we ordered our food. Three people ordered the Ribs which come with baked potato or French Fries plus a veggie. The veggies were cooked perfectly. We all asked for extra BBQ sauce. One person ordered Shrimp in Tamarind sauce with Tamarind sauce on the side. I suggest you do this as they usually drown the Shrimp in Tamarind sauce. That comes with rice and veggies. One person ordered Fajitas and another ordered Tortilla soup as she wanted to eat light.

The food and service were excellent as usual. Everyone liked their meals. Their prices are excellent. Our meal: one order of Ribs, one order of Shrimp, a Margarita and a 7-UP was 256 pesos. Very reasonable.

TONY'S Restaurant - Closed Wednesday - 766 4069
I suggest reservations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Don't forget Tony's has his BBQ Lamb special on Sunday.

Knowing Tony's menu and clientele, I have strong doubts that he serves barbacoa de cordero. His ribs are USA-style BBQ, and I suspect his lamb is too.

His barbecued lamb on Sunday is definitely barbecued lamb US-style, not barbacoa de cordero.

Not sure what Esperanza means about the clientele. I rarely go there, but it's definitely a mix of Mexicans and foreigners these days.

It's not a menua item. Tony cooks lamb on a grill outside in front of the restaurant on Sundays. It's not BBQ, just grilled. It's excellent!

Sounds good to me, either U.S. or Mexican barbacoa style. But it's a long way for us to go eat out.
