Any one have an idea where i might acquire a cast iron, dutch oven, in the lakeside area. Size does not matter. Maybe you have seen one in one of the many bazaars in the area. Any leads appreciated. Thanks.

Liverpool here has 2 sizes with white enamel inside and bright colors outside for about $750.00 pesos for the larger one if I remember correctly. I almost bought one last month. It would hold a large chicken and was oval. The reason I didnīt was becuase the ones on display did not have a well grinded base and lid like the French one I have in San Diego. I would have to take it to a metal shop and have it fixed and probably ruin the paint job.

Thanks Alan, I'll ask my daughter to check them out on her next trip to Guad. The lid is not extremely important but would be nice to have. It would be almost impossibe to bring one from the states considering the luggage fees anymore. Maybe I'll get lucky and some second hand dealer will come up with one. I have put out pictures and descriptions to several places. And Santa, I have been a good boy. Yeah right !!

Thanks again Amigo,

Larry

The lids on the 2 display Dutch Ovens did not have an airtight seal like a good one to keep the moisture in. They looked like they would leak. If fitted better it could be a nice addition to our kitchen stuff.

Aurrera in Joco has the turkey size metal Dutch ovens with lids and other sizes for about $130 pesos. Probably not as good as wrought iron but workable.

Not being a cook, I'm only guessing at what a Dutch Oven might be, but I was just in Pharmacia Express in Riberas and she has a display of what appear to be cast iron pots etc. that are sizable.

I forgot about those. I saw them last year and if I remember correctly, they were a good price and a good material.
