Every US state has different laws concerning jury duty. You have received some good advice, I suggest you contact the jury clerk. In my city and state of residence in The US, Anchorage, Alaska, we are exempt from jury duty if we are out of town, or over the age of 70.
I used to work out in the Bush often, whenever I got a call for jury duty, I notified them about my location, I was always exempt from that call, but I would definitely be called when I returned. I am now over 70, so I am permanently exempt.
I suggest that you contact the jury clerk, or whatever the office is that administers jury duty in your home state, and explain your situation, generally speaking, they do not want to cause any hardship for any jurors.
