Chapala shut down is shut down by mods

Can't Post | Private Reply
I was learning from this post. There was no name calling, it had not reduced to juvenile behavior and yet the mods shut it down. Why??? The only reason I can think of is their vested interests in painting a rose colored picture of Chapala/Ajijic and also real estate values... not good for property values to discuss what is really happening in Chapala/Ajijic. Now the post is shut down and will slowly slip unto the second page and then be buried by other posts and I will never hear Papayalover's answer.

So mods, please tell me why'd you shut it down besides it being bad for property prices and bad for the picture postcard view of the region.

Give this refrain a rest.

MexConnect has NEVER - that is NEVER - shut down any thread in any vested interests of any rose-colored picture of anyone, any real estate company or anywhere in Mexico.

The original thread was closed because, in my opinion (and YES, I closed it, as I made clear on the thread) it had run its course. As in other cases, if you wish to reopen a topic from a thread that has closed, feel free to start a new thread.

Just irony that 7 of the last 7 locked posts were about crime in the area? Hmm.

No irony involved. Certain topics inevitably generate more heated discussions, and longer threads often wander so far off the original topic that a new thread is preferable.
Reminder to all posters: It is helpful to future readers if the titles of threads are clear. It is preferable to start a new thread, with a different title, if/when the discussion wanders away from the original title.

you are so out to lunch on this that i am almost speechless! almost-SNORK! although there have been some criminal incedents[sic] here life goes on and i can tell you i have MANY mexican friends here that feel the same.
my glasses ain't rose coloured either. of great importance to me right now is the fixing of my roof during the rainy season by some of my mexican neighbours who i hang out with more than a bunch of uptight gringos. fortunately the gringos i do hang out with ain't full of negativity and hardly any of 'em are on these boards.
i have been on this one off and on for more than 10 years and they ain't influenced by any real estate lackies from what i've seen.
neither is my board,by the way.

naivete is a chronIc disease and by its very nature;the afflicted never know they have it.-SNORK!

This was the on the ground reporting I was looking for: your life is going on, your day-to-day goes on for you as well as your Mexican and Gringo friends. Are you a bit more cautious? Yes, we all are - but ready to run...no way! Thanks for the perspective...I hope to run into people like that more times than the Chicken Little types.

As far as 'on the ground reporting' goes, I want to hear all sides, not just the rosy picture and not just the doom and gloom, ALL SIDES.

I have never liked the locking of a thread as it smacks of censorship. If a topic is out of gas let it die of it's own lack of interest and don't pull the plug on the respirator. Of it continues to draw comments then it was not as dead in the water as the moderators thought.

The deletion of a post or thread MAY have some link to censorship; the locking of a thread clearly does NOT have any link to censorship.

How can you keep a straight face and say the locking of a post has nothing to do with censorship? Said with a smile :-)

Simple! The definition is:
Censorship: the act of "altering or cutting out any parts thought politically sensitive or offensive, or forbid publication, showing or delivery" [Chambers 21st century dictionary]

I guess the right term would be 'blackout'?

Black out? Come on! You can still read all of the comments. If you want to talk more about it...repost. It doesn't look like there's much interest though.
