Looking to caravan Mazatlan to Nogales

A friend who does this trip twice a year is wondering if anyone will be going north on Hwy 15 to Nogales around the end of June or beginning of July. She is on her way north to Florida and has a good pet-friendly place she stays in Navajoa overnight, but is flexible with departure date from Mazatlan.

There has been a recent bulletin from the US Consulate in Hermosillo warning of at least 2 carjackings involving foreigners in the past week or so. (We had already heard, as at least one group, and maybe both, was from Mazatlan). We have no way of knowing how many other incidents there have been but this unpleasant activity has occurred in daytime on the stretch between Culiacan and Guasave, Sinaloa.

Understandably she would like to travel with another vehicle or two, and if I recall she has walkie-talkies to use between vehicles. She has 3 dogs, so stops along the way for routine doggy breaks. Please let me know if you are going north and I will put you in touch. Thanks so much.

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify, the two situations in the US warning occurred between Culiacan and Guasave, during daylight hours.

Are you able to coordinate anything further north than Culiacan? If so, that would be wonderful, and if you could send your email address to me in a private message, I would then be able to pass it on to my friend to coordinate with you. Muchisimas gracias.
