Hi,

My daughter, who is fairly new to living and working in Mexico, is missing her Thai curry paste and a few other things. She wants to cook for some new friends who have been sharing Mexican meals with her. She asked, and I am perfectly willing to send her some supplies, but first I thought I should ask if anyone knows of an online Asian grocery which they could recommend. One located within Mexico would be preferable, but not necessary.

Thanks in advance for any leads or suggestions.

Also, Dragon de Oro, Plaza San Juan, Calle Ernesto Pugibet, Colonia Centro, México D.F. (East end of Mercado San Juan but has a separate entrance off the Plaza.) Modest but good selection of Asian foods and products.

Plus; Mikasa, Avenida San Luis Potosí # 179, Colonia Roma Norte; large supermarket carrying mostly but not solely Japanese food products.

She is in Oaxaca. Sorry, I guess I'm a bit skittish about her privacy, but I realize she is definitely not the only young woman from the U.S. teaching there.

Thank you bournemouth and Anonimo for the responses. I am currently looking at the website for Kume.com.

Maybe I will go ahead and send a care package, and as time permits she can find her own sources. I will definitely pass along the above information. Thanks.

SUPERKISE in Coyoacon is the place to go. I think it has the largest selection of Oriental groceries in Mexico. Here is their website: http://www.superoriental.com/ Alejandro and Patricia (Patti) Sekiguchi both speak English. Patti is better at replying to e-mail pattiseki@superoriental.com We live in Guanajuato, e-mail our orders then recieve a quote, make a deposit to thier bank account [I think they also take cards] then SupeKise sends the boxes to the Terminal del Norte bus station and ships them to GTO where we pay the freight at the bus station here

The website Does Not do a good job of listing their product line so just write and ask -

If its Oriental and avaialble in Mexico they'll have it

I think you should suggest her to go around and find some shops of Thai food items. If she couldn't find any shop then you can suggest her to find some on line .

Yes katieherley, I agree with you. She is planning a visit to an old friend in Mexico City, and they will look around there. It will be best if she can find a store she likes which also can ship to her.

Since you are looking Asian groceries try to find on-line shops on the Web they provide excellent Asian groceries within reasonable pricing
