Ecobici for Americans?

Hello - the Mrs. & I are in DF for the next 3 months, without a work visa.

We want to use Ecobici but don't have a local bank account (and won't get one w/o work visa) and are subletting a place through craigslist so don't have any local bills with our address on them.

Has anyone in a similar situation managed to open an Ecobici account? Any advice?

I checked and sad to report there is not an easy work around..unless a "local" helps you out.

To open a Ecobici account, you have to present a gov issue ID, proof of address (a Telmex bill is commonly used) and have Mexican Bank account or CC.

There may be hope...a group of UNAM students recognized this exclusion and proposed a project to work with DF to come up with a process for visitors and tourists. I have no info as to when and how.
