Abducted Canadian children returned home from GDL

After living a nightmare, being moved around Mexico for nearly 4 years, two young Canadian children have been rescued and returned home to their mother, who has searched desperately the entire time. They apparently have lived in several locations in Mexico, including Baja, Puerto Vallarta, and Guadalajara, and were finally discovered on a tip from a crime stoppers type show on Mexico television. The Canadian Government is extraditing those responsible, but I hope they get a taste of prison in Mexico in the mean time.

Good Morning Marlene,

I couldn't agree with you more. I am sure their mother is very much relieved and it will be a joyous time when she first sets her eyes on her children and can hold them once again.

As I had imagined before reading the article, it was the children's father who abducted them. There is also the possibility he was mixed up with the cartels in Mexico. What a swine, and what a happy ending, but not for him and his accomplices, one of whom was his nephew.

I posted the article as a reminder how important it is to be observant. Criminals from abroad still believe they can hide out undetected in Mexico. Beach areas are a favorite as it's easier to blend in with tourists. If something looks suspicious, as this situation certainly did, it probably is, yet these children were subjected to nearly 4 years of horrific conditions, captivity, and deprived of education. Canadian and Mexican authorities, working together, seemed to be one step behind them as they moved around. The nephew remains at large, with a Canada-wide warrant outstanding for him. He could still be in Mexico, but the children eventually may be able to shed a little light on his whereabouts.
