Lakeside Victim's Fund: Condolence fund for families

Can't Post | Private Reply
If you wanted to help, here is your chance. The Lakeside Victimís Fund has been established to collect and distribute money to the families of the Lakeside victims who died in the May massacre.

Recognizing that the families are struggling not only with losing their loved ones in terrible circumstances but are also struggling with the cost of burials, possibly the loss of income from the deceased, and in many cases the need for psychological counseling which they cannot afford. The fund will collect donations for the next two weeks to be distributed to the recipients by well respected leaders of the Mexican community who have determined the individual family needs. 100% of monies donated will go to the families. The families know the money is a gift from the hearts of the foreign community

We are asking that if you belong to a church or organization that you volunteer to take up a collection when you gather. PM us with your name and organization if you can help out and do this. Place the money in an envelope and take it to either the office at LCS with The Lakeside Victims Fund written on the outside or to the American Legion and place it in the locked suggestion box in the bar. In San Juan Cosala go to Viva Mexico and find the decorated box set on a table in the center of the restaurant and deposit the envelopes there.

If you wish to donate individually, you can do so by doing the same as the directions for the organizations. A PayPal account will be posted for those who are out of town and wish to donate as soon as the account is available.

The Fund can be contacted by emailing lakesidevictimsfund@gmail.com

Thanks, John. Lakesidevictims fund is a member of Insidelakeside. New members have to belong for 7 days before posting email addresses. We are just waiting for the 7 day waiting period to end so we can post our message and our email address on Insidelakeside. It should be up by tomorrow.

We have already posted on Chapala.com and on the Yahoo Lake Chapala group.

Your posting above is already posted on the InsideLakeside forum by me including your email from your original posting. I posted it there. It is in the "Events" section. CanucBob the Moderator said it was OK for me to copy, paste and post it.

I'm going to send it to all in our gated Community and our friends in Ajijic too.

Thank you for passing the message along, Johninajijic. Your kindness is much appreciated. We wanted to post in in the Mirador because that gets more traffic than Events. I think Bob has left both threads on the Insidelakeside Board; we'll leave it up to him if he wants to delete one. We are still sorting out the PayPal account - when we have it ready, we will post that information on all the forums too.

Just a reminder that this is the last week for local collections at the American Legion, LCS and Viva Mexico.

The PayPal account at http://lakesidevictimsfund.weebly.com will be active through this week and next. If the link doesn't work, try cutting and pasting in a new window rather than clicking through from Mexconnect.

Please contact lakesidevictimsfund@gmail.com if you have any questions.

A final reminder -
The week is coming to an end, and so is the local collection. The organizers of Lakeside Victims Fund deeply appreciate the community support that the ex-pats have shown to the bereaved families through their generous donations. Many thanks also to the churches, community groups, fracs and other organizations who have participated in the collection.

Locally, donations can still be dropped off at the American Legion, LCS or Viva Mexico - but only until the end of this week!

The PayPal link will remain active until the end of next week.

Please continue to spread the word during the final days of the fund-raising.
