Yucalandia is on target with his suggestions. Strange, same things has been bothering me for about two weeks, only the pain was getting from tolerable to, as you describe it, fairly unbearable, could not concentrate on anything else. Saw a dentist this past Tuesday. No caries, no bone damage, no apparent infect, no significant exterior inflammation. Have you been particularly tense recently, he asked. Applying pressure on one´s teeth means than, usually, one tooth or set of upper and lower teeth are bearing the pressure. In my case, the apparent center of pain (at first hard to find, since it was shreaking pain throughout my face) was where I had had root canal work about six years ago. And my jaw is equally sensitive to hot as well as cold liquids. Had I ever had a mouth guard he asked. I sheepishly admitted, yes, but had never really used it. Now I am on pain medicine and an anti-inflammatory, and faithfully using the mouth/tooth guard, while chewing my cud on the unaffected other side of my jaw, and this morning was the first in about five nights that I slept through the night and well. Hope you will be able to report similar relief. Am curious as to why you did not go directly to a dentist!
