Chia Seeds Recipes?

Can't Post | Private Reply
Anyone use chia seeds in their kitchen?

Currently we use chia seeds as :

An add in to aguas fresca or jugo
A topping to oatmeal or cereal
Baking things like muffins, cookies or breads can have some chia seeds added in without changing the recipe much

I read somewhere you can make a chia seed "gel" by simply adding chia seeds to water, stirring, waiting five minutes, then whisking thouroughly and refridgerating. Then , you can use the gel for many things- the one application I remember well is using the gel to cut half and half with mayonaise. I cant stand mayo, but the inlaws use it frequently and Im trying to make it a bit healthier. Supposedly this does not change the taste.

(I will search for thislink and be back when I find it)

My next project will be to sprout chia seeds and eat the sprouts

Am interested in any other ways you use chia in the kitchen!

Looks like we are having yogurt for breakfast tomorrow! I actually have plain, sugar free yogurt in the fridge right now. No berries, but do have mangos on hand! What a great idea. And I love thicker yogurt, the consistency of greek yogurt - I see how the chia seeds would thicken it up a bit! Yum ! Thanks for sharing!

I also forgot to say, I have put them in popsicles that I make for my toddler (and myself wink wink)?

Some great recipes here, I already make gluten free chia cookies regularly with nuts, and also raw cacao, oats and black bean (trust me it works!) with chia cookies. I have not thought of adding ginger yet, so thanks for the inspiration!

I make this delicious chia seeds recipe every morning. Have a look.

So today I am sharing a very delicious and easy strawberry blueberry smoothie recipe. This 3 ingredient smoothie takes 5 minutes to make and can keep you full for few hours. To add protein, I have added chia seeds in this smoothie but if they are not available you may add flax seeds, pumpkin seeds or any other that you like. In this recipe I have not used any sweetener, its just personal choice. You can go head and add any sweetener of your choice. Letís have a look on recipe.

INGREDIENTS

2 cup fresh strawberries, or frozen
1 1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1 teaspoon chia seeds
1 teaspoon agave nectar or honey or sugar (optional)
3 ice cubes

STEP BY STEP STRAWBERRY BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE

Step 1. Wash and clean strawberries and hull them as mentioned in this strawberry sauce recipe. Clean blueberries as well.

Step 2. Add strawberries, blueberries and chia seeds into a blender. Blend it until becomes smooth. You can also add agave nectar but I didnít add as my strawberries and blueberries were sweet enough.

Step 3. Then add ice cubes in blender and pulse couple of time to crush them. Smoothie will become slushy.

Step 4. Pour into two glasses. Garnish with blueberries, strawberries and chia seeds. Serve it immediately.
