Rooms for rent in Cuernavaca?

We will be traveling with another mature couple and would like to spend the nights of May 1-4 in Cuernavaca. They have not been there before and it's been several years since we wandered around and supported the local economy.
Can anyone recommend reasonably priced rooms, in the $500-600 mx range? Or is that a realistic expectation?

Are you looking for rooms only, or rooms with cooking facilities? Do you need to be in Centro, or would a couple of miles out be all right?

We really only need rooms, or perhaps a B & B arrangement. We prefer to be in Centro, if possible as we don;t want to be spending our limited time there traveling into & out of the city. Thanks so much!
