Smacking it (lovingly!) with a board on the bottom will work (has for me), but an even better solution is to strike it with a hard rubber mallet as one can more easily direct the force onto a specific portion of the bottom than with a board covering the entire bottom. MANY years ago my father even made a round hard wood insert that could be put INSIDE the pot/pan if the bow was concave rather than convex. That worked too. Made my Mom happy as she loved her Everware cookery. Believe it or not I still have a couple of those pots as they really are EVER Ware (these were purchased in the 1930s!!!). Of course, some of it is just my nostalgia for her and for those memorable days.
