Changes are starting to appear in the INM website

Took a quick look at the INM website tonight and it looks like they are starting to implement some of the changes to reflect the new immigration law that was enacted last year. Have not read everything yet as to requirements but they have listed some of the new fees.

Residente Permanente $3,815

Residente Temporal
Hasta un año $3,130
Dos años $4,690
Tres años $5,940
Cuatro años $7,040

Thanks for the heads up! I have to start the renewal process in a couple of weeks. What I'm really interested in knowing is when I can apply for Residente Permanente status.

I'll be starting the process within about 6 weeks too and will also investigate changing my status to Residente Permanente. It appears that you are able to use the documents now to effect the change. The question becomes whether or not all the INM offices will also be ready. Being in the D. F. will help some since they should have some experience with the new procedures before I need to extend. I also need to take my USA vehicle into consideration as it also appears that Banjercito has also changed some procedures.

Has anyone interpreted the "lots of other stuff yet"? We are here now on tourist visa and want to start applying in a week or two once we are moved into our long term rental. Namely are they requiring all initial applications for non-immigrado to start outside of Mexico at one of the Mexican Consulates?.

I just renewed my Inmigrante (formerly FM2) in the Chapala office of INM last week. As of April 6, 2012, not one single thing had changed, including the fee.

Sorry for confusion cause by my "lots of other stuff" comment.
The "other stuff" has nothing to do with INM.
The website is like the US Federal Registry where new laws and regulations are officially announced.
When the new INM rules are ready, they will be announced on that website as well as the INM site.

Hello tashby,

I think bound4ajijic was speaking about changing from a tourist to an FM status and I think you are speaking to a RENEWAL. A bit different I believe.
