UK newspaper - "Fancy a Trip to Mexico? The US has the final say"

This story was widely reported a week or so ago. The requirement to inform US authorities, even if you don't want to visit US, is likely to deter some would-be visitors to Mexico:

This is unbelievable! And yet I haven't seen this story anywhere else. It's so absurd, and yet...hmmm the arrogance of ignorance.

This has been going on for at least a couple of years. https://www.google.com/...ned+back+us+airspace With each new incident, it becomes more publicly known.

We first heard about it one time at least 3 years ago when a flight from Madrid to Mexico City was turned back because there was a “questionable” person aboard, in this case a Canadian who was a relative of a Middle Eastern family that the Americans were watching (if I recall correctly—I can’t find any reference to it in news archives).

As an American, I can say this is preposterous, ludicrous, and outrageous. It reminds me of the refrain of that old Buffalo Springfield song "For What It's Worth":

"Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come
And take you away"

I would certainly hope that people in other countries subject to this tremendous overreach would bring pressure on their governments to protest this.

Creeping fascism! George Orwell lives!

The sad part is that thy still will not see the next attack coming, That is what successful terrorists do, they hit you when you do not expect it and where you do not expect it.

Exactly! And in the meantime, the rest of us are inconvenienced (or worse) by these ridiculous rules and regulations.
