Good Morning Rolly,

Thanks for the "heads up". I for one appreciate it. It gets so darned confusing between all the different time zones here and in the USA, not to mention the different dates they change the clocks in the two countries.

There was no problem until the boy President Bush started tampering with the start and end dates for daylight savings time in The US, making them different from the world standards. When he did that, Microsoft created a new time display for México, It is Titled for Guadalajara, México City, And Monterrey.

If you live in México and use a PC, it is a good idea to install it. It always tells me the correct time in México, and if I click on the clock tray icon, It tells me when the time will change again. It will automatically change the time to or from Daylight savings time too, when it is time to do it.

I have relied on that program to set all of my watches, and clocks in our house for the correct time for several years.

The only thing I need to remember now, is the time differences NOB. If I call someone on the Pacific coast, it is only one hour earlier there instead of two hours earlier for about a month. If I call my daughter in Alaska, it is only two hours earlier instead of three hours earlier now.

I usually need to keep track of the difference, if I call early in the morning, I may wake up my family or friends, and a business office might not be open for business yet, and lately, they may have closed for the day sooner than expected, mid-afternoon here, after 5PM there.

I don't know what an Apple owner can do, but for PC users, the answer is simple. Change your system clock's time zone.

Actually, Papirex, They created 3! Nearly all of México (the one you posted); western México: Chihuahua, La Paz, Mazatlán; and Baja California (norte). They could have created one solely for Sonora, but I guess they figured that everyone in Sonora knew that Sonora was always the same as Arizona, Mountain Standard Time (Arizona doesn't go on Daylight Saving Time, and Sonora elected to stay the same as Arizona where most ¿All? of their cross-border traffic takes place.

My iMac "knows" I'm in La Paz and changes the time accordingly. I have the system preference set to do it automatically, and I think it uses my IP address in combination with the Apple Americas Time Server.

It's lovely to be retired and not really have to care much! Smile

Interestingly, some areas of Oaxaca do not go on DST including 13 thousand schools with more that a million students.

I am happy to learn that Kate. An Apple will be my next computer, as soon as I finish paying my Federal Income taxes. After the disaster of Vista, followed by the even worse W-7, I am through with anything from Microsoft. For the possibility of a very few Dollars more, it will be worth it to have a computer that does everything right. I will be able to cope with the few programs that will not function in an Apple, most of them are clearly marked if they will not work in an Apple.

I already need to learn what amounts to a new mal-operating system. If I need to learn a new OS, I will prefer to have one that works all of the time.

I'm sure you are right David. I don't really remember all of the choices I had several years ago, but I do remember choosing the one that would work for me in Cuernavaca, Morelos, in the central highlands.
