For those lucky enough to call Riviera Nayarit home, there's a not-so-new but still pretty much undiscovered treasure of a grocery store, Merkabastos. It's between Mega and WalMart, and why more people don't shop there is a mystery to me. Yesterday I was the only person in the store! Their produce is exceptional, unlike the compost available at the other two. Yesterday I saw beautiful fresh brussel sprouts, peas, five kinds of lettuces, fresh huitlacoche, watercress actually in water! and crisp, five kinds of tomatoes, every imaginable chili, and incredibly, okra. My gumbo is on the stove! I'm posting this because I do not want them to close....Go check them out, I think you'll be amazed.
