Lagos De Moreno via 80 to San Luis Potosi

For those of us who had to grin and bear 80 from Lagos de Moreno to San Luis Potosi, some good news. We traveled that route today and the new road is unofficialy open, yea. All the way from Lagos to the intersection with the new stretch of 80 south of Potosi to 57 and the libre 80 into Potosi.

The road is mostly flat, mostly straight, wider than normal, 2 lane concrete highway. Ii is unofficial as the ramps to the new road are not open. You have to drive around the first dirt pile or catch one of the impromptu ramps in the first 10 Km.

The new toll booth is not open, still under construction so watch for the bumps there. There were also two dirt "chicanes" around the 45 KM marker.

The best news, an hour quicker ride for the route. (There were no speed limit signs) The bad news, my wife missed the pottery at Ouelos.

So 'unofficially' meaning that you just got on and drove it, eh? Was there any 'normal' traffic such as trucks and buses yet? I traveled that same way a couple of weeks ago but did not get onto the new part (since I have heard stories of getting on it and having to turn back due to no egress).

Yes, I just got on it after watching a fair amount of traffic already there. No big trucks or bus's as the access isn't wide enough. There are a few finished exits but there are no services on the new stretch. Sometimes you just have to go for it and we did and it worked well.

ditto on this great new road...came thru Wed..dont even have the dirt piles to go around..get on at Lagos...saw 2 Federales..but never saw any speed limits posted...Traffic moving about 110 Km or a little more..Ojuelas exit clearly marked....get off at Matejuales exit to bypass SLP...Toll gates still not open..I imagine this will greatly hurt Ojuelas & look for some pottery booths on the
new highway before long...left GDL at 7AM & into Laredo Tx about 7PM...would imagine this saved about an hour plus being a much safer drive..
