ASA artist Open Studios Feb. 25 & 26

ASA Presents: Ajijic's First Open Studios Event
February 25 and 26, 2012

What is "Open Studios?"

OPEN STUDIOS offers an opportunity for artists and craftspeople to bring the public to see their work where it’s created. Ideally, the open studio takes place in his or her work space, whether that’s a yard, a garage, in the artist’s home, or in a place where the artist works outside the home.

For ASA’s Open Studios event, some artists will be hosted by another artist and show their work in a display at the other artist’s place. There may be a “group showing” at some locations to include a number of artists.

Open Studios will be held Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26. The hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The “Passport” to enter “behind the gates and into the studios” will be a brochure showing a picture of one of each participating artist’s creations, the address where each artist will be showing, and each artist’s assigned number. The brochure will also include individual contact information for each artist. There will be a centerfold map showing where all of the open studios are located. Each open studio will be designated by a number. A brightly colored sign showing the ASA logo, the location number, and the names of the artists showing there will be displayed on the gates or door of each location. We'll make it easy to find us.

A “preview” show will be held in conjunction with ASA’s February show and sale (date and location to be announced). This will be an opportunity for the public to see a piece of each artist’s work and mark their brochures for their preferences.

The Passport brochures will be sold for 20 pesos at various locations, including Lake Chapala Society ticket counter, 60"s in Paradise, Diane Pearl Colecciones and others. Sales will begin early in February. When you arrive at an Open Studios address, you will need to show your Passport, or you may purchase one at the door.

We hope to have many visitors to our Open Studios event. Some people may have attended similar events in the U.S.A. and enjoyed them so much that they returned to their favorite artists year after year. We hope you'll come and feel the same way at ASA’s first Open Studios event.

You can still get your Passport to the artist's studio event - they will be on sale at the restaurant 60's in Paradise where several artists will have their work and technique displayed.
