Asking for a friend. How long can one not pay predial and what happens? We are talking about a vacant lot in the municipality of Jocotopec. Last time predial was paid was in 2010. Thanks, fug

You can safely not pay for a few years (essentially until the local municipio decides to collect and adds your property to the "unpaid predial" list prior to claiming it in lieu of payment) but bear in mind that every year the "late payment" charges will pile up.
FWIW, anyone can pay the predial on your behalf, though this is simplest if they have at least a photocopy of a previous payment.

Thanks, Tony Only missed last year and this is a vacant lot. Taxes are less 200 pesos. I just do not know where predial is paid in Jocotopec. But I will find out and bring them up to date, and yes, will be paying a local to do this for me. And I do have the receipt from when they were paid last paid in 2010. Thank you for your help. fug

Why would you pay someone pay your predial? Go to the Palacio Municipalin Jocotepec and ask where it is paid, someone will know if it is not paid there... How long have you lived here??

In Mazatlan we can pay ours online...you might go to your city's website & see if they have a provision for this.
Good luck! Or just go pay it yourself...very easy, usually.

The presidencia or ayuntamieto are good bets. In some areas, e.g. Colima, you can also pay at Wal Mart or Soriana.

Taxes...water; property etc. are paid in a building next to the OXXO on the plaza in Joco. There is a small sign on the doorway...just walk in and there will be a counter with cages...just like a bank. A copy of any of the old property tax receipts will make life much easier. The folks are friendly but don't expect much if any english.
