Successful FM3 renewal

Just thought I'd share my recent experience.....this is in Guadalajara btw.

I went on Wed, Jan 25 to immigration and took with me the following:
(this is for a renewal fyi)
1. copy of passport (only the front page with my data on it)
2. Fm3 plastic card
3. Copy of bank payment receipt (I payed less than 1300 pesos, so the new prices are not in effect)
4. A letter saying that my situation hasn't changed in mexico (the provided me with the letter and I had to just fill in a couple blanks)
5. The form that you fill in on their website..it had my data already saved from last year!

That's it -- I didn't need bank statements/anything else.....also, I just turned 26 and am here on a rentista...

The card was ready for me to pick up 48 hours later on Friday the 27th.

It really couldn't have been easier..

and, yes, I am aware that it is now referred to as "no inmigrante", but everyone still seems to use/understand FM3.

I had color infantil sized pictures made at one of the kodak booths for like 50 pesos total. I had a bunch made, but only used 5 total (3 of my front and 2 from my side profile).....No jewelry or glasses allowed in the pictures.

Also, You take the pictures with you on the 2nd visit when you go to pick up the actual card. They glue the picture into the card right in front of you....they also have you fill out a formato basico (just some questions about yourself)

That sucks. I paid $1294.
These are the only messages I received online:

25/01/2012 El trámite ha sido registrado Delegación Regional en Jalisco
25/01/2012 El tramite ha sido asignado Delegación Regional en Jalisco
26/01/2012 El trámite ha sido clasificado Delegación Regional en Jalisco

It was ready after the last message.

"Take you drunk banter elsewhere?"

Are you nuts?

The new fee is in effect at the Chapala office so I don't know why the Guadalajara office is charging the old fee. The banks Lakeside wouldn't accept the old fee for an Fm3/2 that renewed in January until the new fee was posted.

We paid the new rate in Puerto Vallarta on January 3rd, so I guess it just goes to show every office is different.

Btw, for anyone, Anthony, if you have extra pictures still, you can use the extras next year rather than paying to get new ones taken (providing I guess that your appearance hasn´t radically changed).
