Work permit in Playa

Can't Post |
I have been offered a job for a local(Mexican)in Playa del Carmen. I already have my fm3 card, but was wondering if I needed a fm3 working permit or something done different if this gentleman was willing to sponsor me. I understand that is how the big resorts and dive companies do it, but did not know if just anyone owning a business could also do this. Thank you in advance.

You will need to change your FM3 with immigration if you change employer or activity, if you are planning to work in the diving business over there, becareful!!!! immigration of Playa del Carmen doesn't accept foreign divemasters anymore, even when you're an instructor they can make it very difficult for you, if you have the chance to do your FM3 in Cancun, do it, it's still a hassle, but it's less.
Playa del Carmen is very difficult with foreigners at the moment, the believe that there are too many of them at the moment, and that they take away jobs for mexicans, I know people who has been there for many years, and suddenly they got a paper in their hands that they had to leave the country within 2 weeks.
There's a group of Mexican "instructors" which wants to get rid of the foreign instructors, specially in the cave and cavern industry.
You have to be very carefull what you do and say over there, if they see you're making too much money or so you could be part of their"black list" and be removed out of the country in no time.
For the rest I wish you good luck and fun and hope that you don't have to deal with the diving industry.

I know about all the other procedures but since this friend who is Mexican has a good business, wants me to help him out and I do not want to do anything illegal-neither one of us want to get into trouble. I did hear that it has been difficult to get proper papers in Playa. I know he would be willing to sign papers for me and I really am not interested in doing anything else. Thanks again for all the advice.
