Has anyone else had this happen today or recently.......I have deleted them but can't seem to get her to go away and don't want to respond. Any suggestions?

I got two of those bizarre PMs today, both from the same alleged person, inviting me to 'get to know her' for god knows what ends. I don't even want to think!

Yes, obviously someone is "off the wall" - delete and disregard.

There's a spammer loose on the Mexconnect site today - as stevebrtx has suggested, just delete and disregard.

We have, we believe, taken jan900 out of the picture from earlier this morning and have asked the techies to look at the history of how she accessed the site and was able to PM so many people in a short space of time (presumably via a bot) to see whether it is possible to reinforce our defences against similar attacks in future.
In the meantime, if you receive PMs from other spammers, please let me know, via either a forum posting (Practice Forum is best) or a PM.
Thanks!
Tony

And apparently she is bisexual, bless her heart. As Woody Allen once said " I wish I was a bisexual as it would double my chances for a date on Saturday night". That was said long before he married and then dumped Mia Farrow to marry their adopted daughter. fug

Yes, it's obvious that the MexConnect member list has been hacked. I received the same message from the same person both in my MexConnect PMs and in my personal Yahoo Mail account. That's probably related to why the site was "whited out" yesterday.

posted later: fug may be correct, but it's pretty surprising to me that this "hack" happened nearly simultaneously with the white out. It was definitely a "hack" as the messages I got both referred to viewing my profile on mexconnect.com.

Think there is no relationship. Tony and Rolly both explained that their webbsites were temporarily off line yesterday due to electrical problems in Vancouver, where apparently their webbsite are. I thought it was funny and on another thread, Tony says that it has been taken care of. Leave it to Tony to spoil our fun. Grin. fug

I also received the same message Axixic, but on another mail server, the one provided by the local ISP, www.laguna.com.mx .

So it's getting through several if not many spam filters.

The one danger Mexconnect has is if it tightens up its filters too tight some good messages will be turned away too.

You're cute so who can blame her?

I told her she might have better luck with finding love if she contacted lifers in a prison.

Well, I got two of them today. Different headings, but the same message in each of them. I haven’t deleted them yet, but I am ignoring them. It is a good practice to never reply to an unknown sender of any email, etc.

I will give one of them to Rolly if he wants it.

She, he, or it, said she researched my profile too. She must have been impressed with my profile photo, which is a photo of one of my grand puppies, Shorty.

I decided to see just what it was, so I used a throwaway email address and replied to it. It's an unusual twist on the old, well-known Nigerian scam. This time it's a political refugee, from a war in her own unnamed country, in Senegal. She actually had no hidden-away fortune you could help her get, at least in the first reply, but I would bet that something along that line would be coming along to anyone stupid or ignorant enough to actually answer her private email to respondents. PS – that throwaway email address has now been thrown away!

Not only did I also receive the message in both my message box but also to my private email. As of late, I have been receiving a great deal more spam out of Mexico and I believe they are getting one of my email addresses from this forum?

Just create a hotmail, or gmail etc. and use it once, or if you have domains you have the flexibility to create and toss. I probably have over a hundred for one reason or another. I believe there are also some services that provide that capability.
